The horses of The Balanced Horse Project welcome you.

From Mechanical Founder to Wobble's Syndrome, I have learned more about Equine Bio-Mechanics and how to influence body resistance,  producing positive outcomes for many.

Each horse brings a lesson to learn. That is why The Balanced Horse Effect has transformed from taking         1 1/2 years to transform the body to an average of 4 months. The following horses had careers and a better life because of their exposure to the Balanced Horse Technique.
Thanks to all.

A case of Founder: Feet gone wrong.

Pick a foot, any foot, on a horse. You will find the most amazing educational tool Mother Nature could offer.
This lesson was a tough one!
The life-threatening Condition was nothing new to this owner who had lost 2 horses to the effects of founder while receiving  the best veterinarian care.

The discovery of founder in a third horse caused the owner to change strategies.

Pictures says more than words.

It took 11 months to return this horse to his owners care.

After a weekend trail ride the horse showed extreme foot pain.
The horse had a history of being lame off and on.
The owner asked for our observations.
It was decided to remove his shoes.

Picture
Left front after shoes removed
His angles did not complement his conformation.
Suddenly it was very apparent what was wrong.
His hooves were not balanced to his body, creating mechanical founder in both front feet.

Pads and a heart Bar shoe had hidden the  founder from an unknowable owner for 2 years.

Vet care was not an option as  the money had gone to care for last 2 horses.

She quizzed us about natural processes of treating founder.
Research  from the Balanced Horse Project indicated that  improvement was possible.
She decided to try an alternative approach.
The owner agreed  to participate every weekend to emotional support her horse.
Permission to end her horse’s life if needed was provided.

We all said our prayers.

Picture
Our goal was to provide consistent Organic care allowing the horse's body to become a super conductor of bio-energy. This energy was needed to support  homeostatic system responsible for re- balancing the body's systems and therefore repairing the damaged hooves.
Supportive care was applied a daily.
  • Foot care, soaker/LED light therapy
  • Trims every moment the angles shifted,
  • Structural release to limit joint and connective tissue damage
  •  Simple diet

Hay hay hay.
He stood in front of a round bale 24 hours a day.
He made a foot pad of discarded hay to stand on, he slept in it and when things where tough he used it to support his body weight.

Then his coffin bones broke through the soles of both front feet within days of each other.
Respect for this horse grew.

We continued our routines without drugs.
Convinced that this was part of the natural process we continued on without changing the routine.

Scary - yes, because at this point most horse are destroyed due to infection.
We were using Epsom salts in soaker boots and homeopathic remedies under vet supervision.

So what do you do when  things look bad?

You find the positives points and build on them!
It was decided not to use any artificial agents such as pain blocker or antibiotics.
In the conventional world this would be the end for this horse.

In the alternative world  you observe natural reactions differently.

There were holes in his feet.
There was no infection.
In other horses that we had work with, their feet had rupture to let the coffin bone shift back into a normal position, with positive results.

So we carried on with the program.
Keeping the body energized so that it could continue it transformation.
Acupuncture  was employed to count act the physical discomfort of his feet.

N
o infection,   Lots of pain,  Lots of eating hay,  Weight lost,
And walking a horse that would not quit.

He would struggle to his feet.
He would not want to move.
However he did and his feet felt better.

It was hard for everyone involved.

His soles started to heal the holes, the coffin bones started to correct their angles!

Picture
The soles  split open in March, five month after we started.

The coffin bone created these opening allowing internal correction of the foot.

As the angles improved the soles thickened and the feet healed.

He literally, lived in soaker boots, Boa boots, and LED Hoof Boots for 5 months

Detoxifying his body and clearing the energy blocks allowed the healing to advance.

This picture taken Aug 14 , 07, shows the dark area covered by a thin membrane.
The ruptured soles were healing. The fleshy  area along the edge of the wall transforms into new sole.
The old sole continued to grow out.

This brave horse had 6 weeks of sever physical pain.
Chewing relieved pain.

Some would say it was inhumane.

The horse never wanted to quite.

He is alive and kicking because human intervention did not treat with any drugs or chemicals.

The pain drove the healing response of the body.

There was never any infection to treat!

The horse knew that if he could keep moving through this healing transition,
 things would be great.

And they are!
